about katie
Hi! I’m Katie.
I’ve been an actor for 20+ years in hundreds of commercials, films, & TV shows.
On my first day of work, I slapped Neil Patrick Harris while holding a puppy.
My favorite jobs have always been outside- preferably in the middle of nowhere.
I froze my butt off in an ice cave, got covered in dirt and dust in the desert, and ran through the woods at 6 months pregnant, yelling at bears.
Two dream series regular roles on pilots for ABC & Comedy Central that didn’t get picked up, wonderful indi features that ran out of funding, and endless “almosts” have always inspired me to try something new.
From writing (comedy mostly- I am occasionally hilarious.), to directing (commercials mostly- here’s a vagina puppet), to painting & calligraphy (sprigs, mostly- littlesprig), I love learning, and finding a community of artists to collaborate with.
The birth of my son inspired me to learn to live more sustainably. I became obsessed, and am now that friend that will give you bamboo toilet paper as a gift.
In 2019: I wrote and directed a bunch of PSAs for living with less waste, working with ethical and sustainable brands like Who Gives A Crap (the aforementioned bamboo toilet paper), and fell sideways into an unexpected career shift.
So these days I spend most of my time directing commercials.
I especially love working with kids and creating a warm, inviting experience for them. I do occasionally steal my son’s stuffed animals to bring to set so that I’m cool enough for the 5 and under crowd.
A background in improv and sketch comedy is put to good use, and after spending my 20’s traveling and working as a model, I find my chickens coming home to roost directing for fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands.
I’m a firm believer that the atmosphere on any set is just as, if not more important, than the final product. I have the upmost respect for everyone I work with from the PAs to the Art Department to the Camera team.
Diverse perspectives enhance everything in life, and I strive to keep the sets equitable, collaborative, and fun.
And we (almost) always wrap on time.
Let’s make something.
